Do NOT want children, is it a taboo?

I read an article on the guardian written by polly vernon;

she has some good points. it got me thinking whether or not having kids is the right thing to do. i think it is selfish if i instead want to spend the rest of my life and my partners life childless but we will have so much more freedom and less responbility and more oppurtunity to explore our own lives, continiue with our hobbies without interruption and just generally be free to do what we want WHENVER we want without any constraints.
what do you think, im interested to know whether or not i am alone on this
thanks for reading

  1. Can't imagine having kids, I'm sure it's possible that might change in the future. But right now it just seems to be a waste of both time and money.

  4. to be honest, if it was just me and my wife/ girlfriend, then we would have alot more time to enjoy our own lives, and that may sound selfish, but we only live once.

  5. It's not selfish at all. Previous generations have seemed to have settled, wed, and had children earlier, but now I'm seeing more couples delaying these because the idea of a traditional nuclear family has changed significantly over the past few decades. Plus, children are a hefty financial investment...

  9. I agree with that, I wouldn't want kids unless I know I have more than enough money to provide for them and live very comfortably.
